Donald Featherstone has died at the age of 95.  He was one of the key figures responsible for developing and promoting miniature wargaming as an adult hobby.
Featherstone started gaming in the 1950s and published military histories over a nearly 50 year period.  He is best known for numerous rule booklets and books on miniature wargaming published in the 1960s and 70s covering ancient to modern periods, armies to skirmish scale, on land, sea, and air.  Many of the leading figures in gaming have said they owe their start in the hobby to Featherstone’s books.  In 1961 he appeared on BBC television to promote wargaming and soon after he organized the UK’s first wargame convention.
