Where are they now: Jennell Jaquays
Jennell Jaquays illustrated and wrote many early gaming publications for Judges Guild and other companies under the name Paul Jaquays. She was the founding editor of The Dungeoneer magazine while still in college. Her writing credits include the classic Judges Guild adventures Dark Tower, The Caverns of Thracia, and The Book of Treasure Maps for D&D, Legendary Duck Tower for RuneQuest, and co-writer of Chaosium’s Griffin Mountain RuneQuest campaign setting. Jaquays illustrated most of the Nehwon (Lankhmar) mythos for TSR’s 1980 AD&D Deities & Demigods, and worked on 2nd ed AD&D and Dragon Dice products for TSR in the 90s.
In the computer game industry she has been the Director of Game Design for Coleco, a level designer for id Software contributing to several Quake titles, and created art for Microsoft/Ensemble games like Age of Empires III and Halo Wars. She helped found SMU’s Guildhall graduate program in game development.
Jennell came out as a trans woman in December 2011. According to jaquays.com she currently resides in the Atlanta, GA, area and is working as Lead Level Designer for CCP’s World of Darkness MMO based on White Wolf’s Vampire the Masquerade.
