Paranoia, a role-playing game of a darkly humorous future, by Dan Gelber, Greg Costikyan, & Eric Goldberg, illus. James Holloway, West End Games, 1984.
Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu, and the AD&D module Tomb of Horrors all have one thing in common. You probably won’t “win”, But if you’re lucky you’ll go out in spectacular style.
Part Logan’s Run and 1984, part Keystone Cops, you are a Troubleshooter in Alpha Complex carrying out the impossibly contradictory orders of The Computer. Fortunately you have 5 more clones waiting to take your place if you are accidentally terminated. You’re going to need them.
STAY ALERT! TRUST NO ONE! KEEP YOUR LASER HANDY!
And remember to blame it all on your teammates. It was all their fault.
